GOAL

Responsible for providing leadership and direction for the planning, designing, implementation, and assessment of K-12 teaching and learning systems in all content areas, ESOL and Advanced Learning to all District schools. Assists the Executive Director with the effective operation of the academic program by developing, managing, and supporting all resources essential to increasing student achievement and coordinating with School Leadership & Operations and Technology leaders. This position is responsible for supervising the teaching and learning department.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans, directs, and monitors the school system's K-12 systems in the areas of Advanced learning, ESOL and all content areas. Aligns with the district's priorities and objectives related to teaching, learning, and achievement as defined by board policy and the Superintendent. Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for assigned content areas. Provides leadership and direction in securing and aligning instructional resources for the district. Collaborates with School Leadership & Operations to support the school improvement planning process and aligning resources and professional development to the district's priorities and objectives defined by board policy and the Superintendent. Coordinates the Pre-Kindergarten program, ESOL program, Advanced Learning, CTAE, and other special programs. Coordinates planning and decision-making to ensure quality and consistency among programs. Works cooperatively with elementary, middle, and high school administrators and community partners for Technical/Career Education, Workforce Development Specialists, Youth Apprenticeship Program Teachers, and other school-based personnel to implement and maintain program components, statutory requirements, and plans/specifications for new or renovated programs or facilities. Collaborates in the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive, district wide professional development plan. Provides program guidance, support, and assistance regarding the interpretation and implementation of national, state, and local policies and laws. Provides leadership and directs a comprehensive, system-wide process for resource development and grants; including the preparation, maintenance, management, and monitoring of grant applications, budgets and awarded contracts. Coordinates all phases of resource development/grants research, school-based personnel training, program and grant development, proposal writing, and management of awarded projects. Assists in planning the instructional budget. Assists in staff development plans and preparation. Coordinates the collection of data, and research effective strategies for improving student achievement and school effectiveness. Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies. Possesses and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position. Follows work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner. Participates in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignments. Reviews current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to the job responsibility. Ensures adherence to good safety procedures. Follows federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
