Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Vice President of Communications and Marketing, overseeing all aspects of our global communications and marketing initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand identity, expanding our reach, and maximizing revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Public Relations and Media Relations:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders to secure press coverage and maximize exposure for our authors and titles.
  • Develop internal communications for CEO and be the voice of the Corporation to the outside world.
  • Manage internal communications and events such as Town Halls and other Corporate initiatives.
  • Serve as the company spokesperson and manage crisis communications as needed.
Develop and Execute Marketing Strategy:
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies to drive sales, enhance brand visibility, and support key business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of marketing efforts with editorial, sales, and distribution strategies.
  • Utilize market research, consumer insights, and industry trends to inform marketing strategies and optimize campaign performance.
Brand Management:
  • Define and uphold the Corporation's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications channels and touch-points.
  • Develop brand positioning and messaging that resonates with authors, agents and other target audiences and differentiates our offerings in the marketplace.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling Corporate marketing collateral, including publicity campaigns and digital content.
Digital Marketing and Social Media:
  • Drive digital marketing initiatives, including social media, email marketing, content marketing, and SEO/SEM, to increase brand awareness and audience engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze digital marketing metrics to measure campaign effectiveness and optimize performance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging digital trends and technologies to innovate marketing strategies and tactics.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of marketing and communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and performance metrics to evaluate team performance and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in senior marketing and communications roles within the publishing industry or related field.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across traditional and digital channels.
  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable marketing initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and a deep appreciation for the power of literature and the written word.
  • Results-oriented approach with a focus on driving measurable impact and ROI.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable.
