Job Description

The Stanford Department of Pediatrics is devoted to enhancing the well-being of infants, children, and teenagers through innovative healthcare, studies, education, training, and advocacy. The department has approximately 150 active faculty members with ongoing awards, around 90 research postdocs, about 110 clinical/research fellows, roughly 525 current external awards, approximately $60M of externally funded research, and about $51M of internally/gift-funded research.

Position: Research Administrator 2

Department: Office of Pediatric Research Development

Reports to: Assistant Director of Pre-Award Research Administration

Location: Remote (Open to candidates nationwide in the U.S.)

Overview: The Research Administrator 2 will be responsible for managing the proposal preparation process for sponsored projects, including federal grants, foundation grants, and industrial contracts. This role involves assisting faculty and staff with inquiries related to pre-award grants or fellowships, collecting and reviewing proposal components, and overseeing the Department's PI waiver internal approval process.

Duties Include:

  • Participate in proposal preparation with principal investigators
  • Review and compile documents for completeness and compliance
  • Interpret sponsor guidelines and provide guidance on grant submission requirements
  • Act as a liaison between PI, Research Management Group, and other departments/institutions involved in proposals
  • Track award status to ensure timely processing
  • Oversee the Department's PI Waiver approval process
  • Act as a subject area resource for investigators and staff
  • Contribute to process improvements and special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • CRA or CPRA certification desired

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of governmental regulations
  • Ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures effectively
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Excel and web-based tools
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and project management
  • Extreme attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively

Certifications & Licenses:

Completion of Cardinal Curriculum I and II required to maintain position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, light grasping, fine manipulation, and lift objects up to ten pounds
  • Occasionally stand, walk, use a telephone, write by hand, and sort paperwork
  • Rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 11-20 pounds
