Qualifications
  • Required Qualification:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field AND engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
    • Experience in fundamental Linux technologies (e.g., kernel, early-boot, systemd, container primitives, filesystems, packaging, and/or eBPF)
    • Experience in programming using Golang, Rust, Python, and/or .NET (on Linux)
    • Experience in conducting production code reviews using source code control for cloud services
    • Ability to deliver significant impact across stakeholders and customers
    • Proficient in communicating technical issues and requirements
    • Experience in actively contributing to open-source projects
  • Preferred Qualification:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
    • Knowledge of Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and distributed systems
    • Proven ability to adapt to new programming languages
    • Ability to meet specific security screening requirements mandated by Microsoft, customers, and/or government agencies
Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of software engineers responsible for:
    • Enhancing open-source cloud technologies in the context of Azure products and services
    • Engaging with stakeholders to recommend optimal usage of open-source technologies
    • Assisting product teams in understanding the best practices for leveraging open source and facilitating its integration into their products
    • Serving as a bridge between stakeholders and upstream projects with the aim of upstreaming changes
    • Engaging in product engineering tasks
    • Reviewing and documenting code modifications
    • Keeping abreast of developments in cloud infrastructure technology
    • Collaborating closely with other Microsoft teams; maintaining communication across internal and external projects
