Patient Care Coordinator (Dental) Job Summary

The Patient Care Coordinator is the first point of contact for individuals reaching out to the Health Center. This role calls for Medical/Dental office expertise and precise data entry skills. It is crucial to be meticulous with great interpersonal abilities and top-notch customer service. The main responsibilities include welcoming, scheduling, and guiding patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and greeting all patients, visitors, and guests, either in person or over the phone, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the Patient Experience.
  • Registering new patients and updating existing patient information by gathering thorough details, such as personal and financial information.
  • Ensuring all essential household and income information is up to date.
  • Identifying payer sources, confirming insurance, obtaining required authorizations, assigning the correct payment type, and collecting payments.
  • Handling document tasks like copying, scanning, and faxing as necessary.
  • Managing provider schedules in line with office policies.
  • Answering all incoming calls promptly with a courteous tone and proper phone etiquette.
  • Addressing patient, potential patient, and visitor inquiries politely.
  • Taking messages for providers and staff when required.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the front office and reception area.
  • Attending necessary trainings and meetings.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail following office procedures.
  • Generating daily reports and batches for the business office.
  • Facilitating patient flow by adhering to check-in protocols, being mindful of any delays, and communicating effectively with patients and clinical staff.
  • Anticipating inventory and equipment needs and communicating them to the relevant staff.
  • Completing billing and collection processes and preparing them for distribution to the appropriate channels.
  • Adhering to all HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

Patient Care Coordinator (Dental) Education, Training and Experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferably two years of experience in a Community Health environment.
  • Medical or Dental Assistant Certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in computer operation and word processing.
  • Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.

Patient Care Coordinator (Dental) Pay Rate: $18-$20 per hour
