Job Description

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team developing and sustaining consumables for near-point-of-care and centralized medical devices. You will be expected to bring a breadth and depth of knowledge in the entire development stack of consumables engineering from conception to high volume manufacturing while utilizing sound engineering practices and first principals. You will be expected to quickly prototype and test various concepts to provide rapid feedback and direction to the broader development team to drive fast and decisive decisions. Interfacing with outside vendors on material selection, tool making, rapid prototyping, and advanced manufacturing processes is required. This is a fast-paced position that demands the ability to quickly adapt to evolving changes within the instrument and assay. You will be working across functional groups such as Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Assay Development, Manufacturing, and Process Transfer. Clear communication, the ability to collaborate with others, and being a self-starter are a must.­

    Preferred Qualifications
    • 6+ years actively involved in the design of consumables preferably in the medical device industry
    • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering product design fundamentals
    • 3D solid modelling design tools experience utilizing SolidWorks and PDM Works
    • Experience using 3D thermal analysis software
    • Experience with structural analysis FEA tools
    • Extensive knowledge of stack up tolerance analysis of complex design systems
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Coordinate prototype fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specification
    • Evaluate and recommend design modifications based on prototype and breadboard systems
    • Provide technical information to team members on the design, development and testing of mechanical components, equipment, machinery, and systems
    • Collaborate with the rest of the Engineering team in the fabrication of test apparatus and equipment as well as the development of methods and procedures for testing products and systems
    • Analyze test data and summarize findings, write technical engineering reports and engineering documents
    • Proficient in SolidWorks including surfacing, model configuration, BOM management, etc. Experience using FEA and CFD
    • A resourceful problem-solver with the ability to be self-directed

      The annualized base salary range for this role is $111,400 to $174,300 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
