About the role:WebMD Health Services is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. As a part of the team, you will contribute to expanding our enterprise data platform to enhance the WHS product, reporting, and business intelligence. Collaborating with engineers from various departments, you will play a vital role in designing and developing product solutions. Your expertise will play a key role in shaping the efforts of our data team in supporting a product that adheres to HIPAA and GDPR regulations. This position will report to the Data Engineering Lead overseeing our data platform.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to shaping the future of the WebMD Health Services data platform, involving architecture design and implementation
- Enhance and monitor data services, addressing reliability and data quality challenges throughout the data platform
- Establish and enforce best practices concerning data acquisition, storage, monitoring, logging, and access within the data platform
- Design data modeling for enterprise data warehousing and reporting
- Demonstrate initiative with the ability to lead projects, enhance processes, and influence others
- Over 3 years of professional experience, proficient in SQL and possessing strong programming skills in Python
- More than 3 years of expertise in big data architecture and data pipelines, with a preference for familiarity with Airflow
- At least 1 year of experience in production support within a cloud environment (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.), with Azure familiarity being advantageous
- Minimum 1 year of experience in fine-tuning spark or managed spark (e.g., Databricks) environments for analytics and reporting workloads
- Minimum 1 year of experience in fine-tuning SQL Server environments for analytics and reporting workloads
- Familiarity with DevOps environments and methodologies, encompassing CI/CD, infrastructure as code, etc.
- Understanding of containerized applications and their implementations, with a preference for familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, capable of swiftly examining code and debugging live servers to resolve underlying issues
