Job Title: Youth Sports Coordinator/Head Swim Team Coach

This role at the Fairfield YMCA supports their mission by overseeing youth sports programs and the competitive swim team. Responsibilities include organizing programs, supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring safety, and creating a positive environment for participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model and teach YMCA core values
  • Develop and manage youth sports and swim programs
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers
  • Support members and staff in achieving goals
  • Organize swim team travel, budgets, and program events
  • Stay updated on facility changes and assist with planning
  • Maintain a professional and safe environment
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Promote YMCA programs and member engagement
  • Ensure program areas and equipment are well-maintained
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience coaching competitive programs
  • Relevant certifications in lifeguarding, CPRPR, First Aid, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of competitive swimming concepts
  • Leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise, recruit, and support staff and volunteers
  • Observant, safety-conscious, and quick in emergencies
  • Planning and organizational abilities
Training and Certifications:
  • Completion of required online and Safe Sports Act Training
  • Attainment of Safety Training for swim coaches and YMCA coaching certification
  • Physical Ability: Proficiency in aquatic activities and ability to respond to emergencies
  • Weightlifting and auditory acuity requirements
