Join our team at Blue Origin and become part of the Lunar Permanence unit, focusing on the creation of multiple Blue Moon lander products. We are working towards building sustainable infrastructure to transport crew and cargo between Earth and the Moon, aiming to expand human presence beyond our planet.

As a Safety and Reliability Systems Engineer, your role will involve leading various tasks such as functional decomposition, requirements management, integration, and verification to ensure optimal system design. Your meticulous attention to detail will be crucial in managing requirements development and driving design maturity.

In addition to the technical aspects, you will play a key part in developing the Blue Moon Lunar Lander that will take humans back to the Moon and establish a permanent human presence in space.

We are looking for individuals who can bring technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to quality to enhance the safety of human space exploration.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting and leading engineering activities such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs)
  • Coordinating system safety analysis and ensuring traceability between functions, requirements, and safety artifacts
  • Supporting verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to fellow engineers
  • Collaborating with other Lunar Systems Engineers to establish best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • Experience in safety analysis on space systems
  • Ability to lead safety analysis products and coordinate stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in system safety and reliability
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering tools and methodologies
  • Experience with aerospace hardware development/integration
  • Skills in identification and analysis of system safety risks
