Position Summary

The Purchasing Administrator role is dynamic and involves coordinating the acquisition of goods and services to meet the organization's needs efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with established policies and procedures. The Purchasing Administrator plays a key role in supporting the Supply Chain Manager, sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of purchase orders. Additionally, they collaborate with various departments, monitor supplier performance, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Convert Purchase Reqs into POs in SAP and Maximo
  • Assist Supply Chain Manager on open order follow up and expediting and monthly inventory.
  • Assist with general purchases within the plant.
  • Maintain a sufficient inventory of purchase orders and other related purchasing documents, including initiation of requisition to replenish stock.
  • Assist personnel from other departments in a cooperative manner in their attempts to locate. POs, cost data, vendor addresses, product catalogs, etc.
  • Maintain good inter-departmental relationships to attain plant and corporate objectives and present a cooperative service-oriented attitude.
  • Perform calculations that will assist the Supply Chain Manager in evaluating quotations or bids.
  • Cross train in the Storeroom and other areas in the Purchasing department.
  • Assist with Department Time keeping in Kronos.
  • Maintain and update as necessary certificates of insurance, bidders, and vendors agreement, and purchase order registers.
  • Data entry for purchase order/correspondence with emphasis on accuracy and timely turnaround.
  • Assist with certain plant audits
  • Works with the finance department at verify correct invoicing and payment processing for POs.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; may consider a combination of education and 6+ years' experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a purchasing or buyer role in manufacturing industry
  • Strong math skills
  • Analytical Skills with ability to analyze data, market trends, and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial
  • Organizational Skills: Must manage multiple track orders, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Negotiation Skills: including negotiating terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers.
