Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring proper functioning of the equipment by following the implemented preventive maintenance schedule, assuring accurate troubleshooting by trained maintenance technicians, and continuously improving all equipment in the production, packaging, and warehousing areas while maintaining the highest safety, quality, cost, and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Support continuous improvement, modification of job plans or work orders, inspection audits, assisting vendors who are on site for repairs
- Propose, monitor, and document all necessary machinery and equipment adjustments and provide leadership all tasks and duties necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operations, change-over and shut-downs
- Participate and assist in the installation and training of maintenance technicians on new machinery
- Provide training and continuous development to direct reports on maintenance team
- Distributes work orders and tasks daily to maintenance technicians and ensure technicians have enough workload for their shift.
- Monitor progress on technician's workload by doing rounds and following up on technicians periodically throughout the shift
- Audit preventative maintenance work-orders completed by technicians
- Suggest updates to Preventive Maintenance plans based on data analysis of failures
- Work directly with machine operators and production supervisors to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shifts/production
- Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at facility as required
- Enforces department rules and procedures
- Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs timely and safely.
- Work with other departments on root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to help drive efficiency and yield
- Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation. Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.
- Develop and maintain quality and safety standards
- Adhere to Bakerly's safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to Bakerly's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- All other duties as assigned by the maintenance manager
- High school diploma or equivalent required in Electrical and Mechanical technology or industrial maintenance
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Education and/or experience with industrial electricity, automation control and mechanical repairs
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) to look up part location/availability on computer using maintenance software, knowledge in AutoCAD would be a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate with other supervisors and be able to explain electrical/mechanical processes and theory
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
- Strong problem-solving abilities and result-oriented
- Leadership skills, lead by example (no safety violations, use proper PPE, show up to work on time, demonstrate accountability, set behavioral examples when working with other departments.)
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, and around machinery and chemicals.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders).
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Physical dexterity necessary to handle supplies, machine parts and tools.
- Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
