The Facilities Maintenance Lead is tasked with ensuring the optimal operation of machinery and equipment by adhering to a structured preventive maintenance regimen. This role involves troubleshooting with skilled maintenance personnel and striving for enhancements across all equipment in production, packaging, and storage sectors while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate ongoing improvements, adapt job plans or work orders, conduct inspection audits, and assist on-site vendors with repairs
- Recommend, oversee, and document essential machinery and equipment modifications while providing leadership for efficient start-ups, daily operations, transitions, and shutdowns
- Engage in the installation and training of maintenance staff on new equipment
- Deliver training and ongoing development opportunities to direct reports within the maintenance team
- Allocate work orders and tasks daily to maintenance personnel, ensuring adequate workload for each shift
- Monitor technician progress through rounds and periodic follow-ups throughout their shifts
- Review completed preventive maintenance work orders for compliance and accuracy
- Propose updates to Preventive Maintenance strategies based on failure data analysis
- Collaborate directly with machine operators and production supervisors to address mechanical challenges during shifts
- Conduct repairs on equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility machinery as necessary
- Uphold departmental regulations and procedures
- Work autonomously and collaboratively with team members to ensure timely and safe repairs
- Partner with other departments on root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and yield
- Comprehend and adhere to plant safety protocols, including safe lifting practices and machinery operation. Personal Protective Equipment must be utilized as required.
- Establish and maintain quality and safety benchmarks
- Comply with Bakerly's safety policies and procedures
- Follow Bakerly's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the maintenance manager
- High school diploma or equivalent in Electrical and Mechanical technology or industrial maintenance
- Flexibility in work schedule
- Background in industrial electricity, automation control, and mechanical repairs
- At least 2 years of experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing context
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for accessing part information and maintenance software; knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate electrical/mechanical processes and theories to other supervisors
- Capability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset
- Leadership qualities, exemplifying safety practices, punctuality, accountability, and setting behavioral standards when collaborating with other departments
- Willingness to work in extreme temperatures and around machinery and chemicals.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders).
- Capability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Physical dexterity required for handling supplies, machine parts, and tools.
- Vision capabilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
