Job Summary:

We are seeking an ICU (RN) for our facility to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

  • · Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
  • · Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • · Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
  • · Responds to Code Blue and implements life-saving measures, per ACLS protocol.
  • · Interprets EKG rhythm strips and evaluates 12-lead EKG'
  • · Monitors and titrates IV vasoactive, antiarrhythmic and other special drugs, as per physician order.
  • · Assesses patients in an on-going manner, per patient acuity.
  • · Assists physician with procedures, as needed (i.e., thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and venous access devices).
  • · Assumes the responsibility of charging the unit, as needed.
  • · Care of medical or surgical critical ill patient

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • · 1 year ICU experience Required.
  • · Current Texas or compact state licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • · Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • · ACLS certification within six months of hire.
  • · CCRN certification within two years of hire preferred.
  • · NIHSS certification within three months of hire, unless currently certified then needs to be maintained every two years.
  • · 8 hours of acute stroke education annually.
  • · Associate Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
