Background
Maine Narrow Gauge is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1992 that began train operations in 1995.

The mission of Maine Narrow Gauge is to preserve and operate historic two-foot gauge railroad equipment for the education and enjoyment of the public.

The railroad now has four original steam locomotives, original freight cars, and passenger care, both original and replicas. This historic equipment is used year-round to provide train rides for the public and private bookings. All of the operations, from restoration to train operation, are done entirely by volunteers.

Each year Maine Narrow Gauge transports about 70,000 passengers. Train rides are often offered seven days a week from mid-April until the end of October.

Several special events are offered throughout the year, and the organization often hosts approximately 90 tour groups each year as well.

In addition, the most significant event Maine Narrow Gauge does is _The Polar Express_, which runs ~70 trips between early November and Christmas Eve.
