Life Skills Coach - Job Description:


The Life Skills Coach does exactly that coach adults on life skills. We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.

Providing support in Grass Valley is the job for you if you:
  • Like to cook and are creative at cooking healthy meals
  • Have a good sense of humor
  • Would be excited to discuss movies and books (especially romance novels)
  • Would like to teach someone to use their cell phone
  • Are compassionate and friendly
HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must show evidence of a negative TB test within 90 days
  • Must be able to pass a Live Scan DOJ background check
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
  • Must have High School Diploma
  • Must have at least 1 year experience in care-giving, education, or working/volunteering with people with disabilities or equivalent education (please describe in Cover Letter or Resume)
  • Possession and proof of a valid California Drivers License, vehicle insurance, a good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment if driving clients.
  • Grass Valley SLS Pay: $19-20 per hour depending on experience
