Swim Coach

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Superior CA. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for providing direct leadership, instruction, and motivation to students in swimming classes.

• Teaching and Instruction: Instruct swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
• Leadership and Motivation: Develop positive relationships with members and participants and provide motivational support and guidance.
• Program Promotion: Encourage member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
• Communication: Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs.
• Record Keeping: Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
• Teamwork: Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Compliance: Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Equipment Management: Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Training and Supervision: Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
• Swim Instructor Skills: Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Qualifications: YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age.

• Physical Ability: Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
• Lifting Ability: Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
