Position Highlights

The Program Assessment Professional is a 12-month, full-time professional appointment created to evaluate academic program assessment of student learning within the College of Applied Science & Technology (CAST). The role will also involve participating in and representing CAST in campus-wide program assessment committees.

The Program Assessment Professional will work with relevant faculty and staff in CAST to implement academic program evaluation plans, ensuring that program activities and services further the programs' goals and objectives. They will support educational and administrative program reviews and activities demonstrating program effectiveness. They will collaboratively develop customized and timely assessment protocols and other analyses that can be used to inform program assessment.

The Program Assessment Professional will report to the Assistant Dean, Curricular and Academic Affairs and support students, faculty, staff, and administrators with college-specific program assessment initiatives. They will also collaborate with program assessment faculty and staff across the University.

The University of Arizona's College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is the only UA college offering the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Degree. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the collaborative development and execution of the evaluation of CAST academic programs and the related data collection, management, and reporting protocols.
  • Work with relevant faculty and staff on program assessment methods to improve, modify or innovate teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify evaluation tools and methods complementary to program operations, learning outcomes, and activities consistent with assessment plans.
  • Ensure consistency for college wide program assessment measures.
  • Support continuous academic program assessment and improvement of student learning.
  • Provide objective evaluations of programs and activities to ensure they are meeting their stated goals and objectives.
  • Assist relevant faculty and staff with understanding and appropriately using tools related to program assessment.
  • Identify academic program assessment needs, develop data collection systems, and participate in data analysis.
  • Collect and analyze program assessment data to support specific program accreditation requirements and academic program assessment.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of academic programs and make recommendations for future program planning implementation, utilizing a variety of analysis techniques and software tools.
  • Effectively communicate data analysis, both verbally and in writing.
  • Assess the impact of programs, make recommendations for improvement, and provide feedback.
  • Develop reports, create graphic representations, establish a public site to promote the internal and external communication of program assessment findings and recommendations, and respond to queries from stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for improvement, highlight positive outcomes, and work with relevant faculty and staff to implement evidence-based solutions.
  • Evaluate the costs, benefits, and risks associated with programs.
  • Identify potential modifications and improvements to maximize the effectiveness of programs.
  • Collaborate with CAST Student Services on programs, events, and/or initiatives based on program assessment results.
  • Communicate regularly with CAST leadership regarding data insights and recommendations.
  • Recommendsand participates in the development of college policies, procedures, andinitiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to design and implement program assessment frameworks tailored to the needs of the College of Applied Science & Technology (CAST), ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

Competency in utilizing statistical software and qualitative analysis tools to analyze program assessment data effectively.

Understanding of reporting standards and guidelines for program assessment in academic settings.

Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse university community members, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum5 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education andwork experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher preferred or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional-level experience.
  • Experience in academic program assessment, data analysis, and educational outcomes in higher education.
