As a Red Carpet Direct Support Professional Mentor, this person understands that their purpose is to lead by example. By creating a "red carpet" welcome for the people we support and new team members. They will do this by providing mentoring while providing direct support, answering questions, and ensuring team members see the real-life application of the lessons learned through formal training. They will set a standard of person-centered practices. Their role is flexible and transitional creating stability for those new to our services.

Position Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt.
Wage: $25/hour

  • Lane County (Eugene)

Basic Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 2 years experience working with people with I/DD or less with relevant letters of recommendation.
  • Must be at least 18 years old when employment begins.
  • Pass a State/Federal Criminal History Check.
  • Background screening including employment and education history.
  • Pre-employment drug screening (for the use of illegal substances in Oregon).
  • Valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Be able to be certified and maintain certification with First Aid/CPR.
  • Be able to be certified and maintain certification in OIS.

Job Specific Duties:
  • The Red Carpet DSP Mentor is part of a Development Team that receives specialized training to stabilize teams and welcome people to their new homes and PCL support.
  • This team of DSPs will be deployed to ensure a new person has stable, skilled, and mission-focused team members to provide their support.
  • Red Carpet DSP Mentors will then work alongside newly hired DSPs to create a work environment where new team members are welcomed and trained by mission-focused peers.
  • Providing mentoring while providing direct support, answering questions, and ensuring team members see the real-life application of the lessons learned through formal training.
  • Be able to work a very flexible schedule with the ability to make last-minute changes.
  • Providing or assisting with transportation needs of people assigned to support.
  • Be knowledgeable of and implement each person's support needs, preferences, interests, and choices as outlined in support documents and other documents.
  • Be an active participant in the design, implementation, and monitoring of ISP and other Person Centered Plans.
  • Provide other ancillary supports as assigned to ensure a cohesive and smooth delivery of service to the people supported by PCL.
  • Set a Standard of Person Centered Support as defined by PCL's Playbook.
  • Personal Care - as outlined and trained by the ISP, and other documents.
  • Supporting cultural preferences for personal care, clothing, hairstyles, etc.
  • Health Support includes knowing, understanding, and implementing any health-related plans.
  • Follow emergency procedures and health protocols and obtain access to emergency medical assistance as needed.
  • Assisting and/or providing training to administer their medications and treatments.
  • Documenting the use of personal funds according to PCL's policies and procedures.
  • Knowing, understanding, and implementing all Positive Behavior Support Plans and other specific positive behavior supports including applying the principles of OIS.
  • Documentation Including T-logs, individual/house, behavior data, sleep data, etc.
  • Ensure that your appearance and/or behavior does not interfere with a person's acceptance within their community and is aligned with PCL's Dress and Grooming Policy.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for their assigned area. On a regular rotation, this position is on-call for their assigned area for 7 consecutive days in each rotation.
  • Occasional compensated travel to our Southern Oregon Region. (3-6 Times Per Year)

  • Excellent critical thinking skills in all levels of daily activity, planning, and decision-making.
  • Able to work unsupervised and support people without other team members present.
  • Promote, model, and adhere to PCL's Policies and Procedures, including PCL's Mission and Values, the Team Member Handbook, Ethical Guidelines, and the NADSP Code of Ethics.
  • Follow all Bureau of Labor and Industry (BOLI) and Department of Labor (DOL) guidelines in performing work duties.
  • Complete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter.
  • Adhere to and apply related Oregon Administrative Rules and other applicable rules/regulations.
  • Must have dependable, reliable, and regular work attendance for assigned hours.
  • Appropriately and efficiently responding to emergencies and/or crises (including, and not limited to the use of physical intervention).
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with a variety of teams and people.
  • Act as a model for and advocate for people's rights and choices.
