Reports to Head of Upper School

The successful candidate will be an educator who displays passion for teaching high school English and literature; other responsibilities and competencies include:

  • Teaching 5 sections of English literature and/or composition. Specific teaching assignments will depend on our needs and the qualifications of a successful candidate. Teachers typically teach 2-3 different courses.
  • Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents
  • Exhibiting superior teaching skills that demonstrate best practices, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and facilitation
  • Advising approximately 12 students and facilitating the integration of our "Lead from Here" curriculum
  • Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management systems (incl. but not limited to Canvas and Veracross)
  • Serving on committees, leading an active student club, and/or coaching a sport
  • Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners' needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive English department
  • Coaching a sport is highly desirable
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English or a related field; MA or MEd highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with English teaching and/or coaching experience.
