Position: Senior Electrical Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Generac, you will lead the engineering integration and core engineering teams in defining system interactions and requirements throughout the development process. Your main tasks will include identifying system hardware and software components, evaluating inputs/outputs for design performance, and following the NPI Process to ensure design requirements are met from concept stage to product launch.

  • Capture customer needs and system level requirements by collaborating with Core Engineering, Business Partners, Product Owners, and Product Managers.
  • Manage product and system requirements, specifications, and flow down, driving validation and verification activities.
  • Work across engineering functions to define systems strategy, coordinate technical reviews, and engage in technical discussions and designs.
  • Define systems test strategy, perform product integration activities, and create and maintain Statements of Requirements (SOR), block diagrams, and systems inputs/outputs.
  • Support product development plans, interface with internal company personnel, and create test specifications for new systems and firmware/software.
  • Occasionally travel to other Generac facilities and customer sites, while also providing training and mentorship to junior Engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in a STEM major.
  • Experience with systems engineering and requirements management in a product development environment.
  • Expertise in Systems Engineering or relevant discipline, with the ability to deliver in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience in power electronic systems, battery electrification, and electromechanical components design and packaging.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal abilities.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately and translate technical information effectively.
  • Expert understanding of engineering principles and communication protocols/hardware interface.

Physical demands:

This role may involve regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. The job entails computer-based work, close vision, and occasional travel.
