Position Overview

We are in search of a skilled Electrical Hardware Designer to become a vital part of our team. The Hardware Design Engineer will exhibit innovation and resourcefulness in applying engineering principles to the development of specialized machinery. This role involves collaboration within the department and across project teams, ensuring timely project completion while adhering to budgetary guidelines.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will possess at least 5 years of experience in designing electrical control systems utilizing Solidworks Electrical, along with a solid understanding of UL compliance and other relevant industry standards (NEC, NFPA, ANSI, A3, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and evaluate layout and schematic diagrams for electrical controls, performing necessary power distribution calculations.
  • Design control systems that meet both company and industry standards and regulations (i.e., NEC, NFPA, ANSI, RIA, UL, etc.).
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions to diagnose operational issues and recommend solutions to manufacturing personnel.
  • Review hardware designs and provide constructive feedback to the project team during initial and final stages.
  • Support controls engineers in making design decisions as needed.
  • Assist with compliance to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards and project certification for UL submissions.
  • Adhere to Hardware Design Standards, including graphical (schematic and layout standards), materials, reports, and procedures.
  • Provide timely updates to the Project Manager regarding assignment statuses.
  • Complete all required Project Development documentation and generate meaningful project control records.
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill project responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Maintain a strong company presence and foster positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and colleagues to ensure smooth system implementations.
  • Comply with all quality and safety protocols.
  • Execute additional tasks and assignments as directed by the Control Systems Engineering Manager or Project Manager.

Qualifications

A minimum of an Associate's degree (AA) or eight years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.

UL Certification is required.

Familiarity with NEC, ANSI, NFPA 70, ANSI, NFPA 79, and UL guidelines is essential.
