Activities Assistant Job Summary:

You will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of activities that promote social engagement, physical well-being, and mental stimulation for our residents. Your creativity, compassion, and organizational skills will help create a warm and inclusive community.

Activities Assistant Job Responsibilities:
  • Activity Planning and Coordination: Develop and organize a diverse calendar of activities including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and movie nights.
  • Activity Facilitation: Lead and facilitate activities, including exercise classes and group projects and outings, ensuring all residents are encouraged to participate and have a positive experience.
  • Social Engagement: Foster meaningful relationships with residents, encouraging social interaction and a sense of community.
  • Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
  • Supportive Role: Collaborate with other staff members, including caregivers and healthcare professionals, to ensure the well-being and safety of residents.
  • Transportation: Provide transportation for residents to events and outings, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Customer Service: Address resident needs and concerns with professionalism and care, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
Qualifications

Activities Assistant Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in recreational therapy, gerontology, or a related field is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Previous experience working with older adults, preferably in a recreational or social activity setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently when necessary.
  • Ability to assist with transferring residents from chairs/beds to walkers/wheelchairs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
