Your role and responsibilities

  • Understand the NEMA Division's vision, objectives and improvement needs and suggests projects and improvement actions that support objectives. Work with leaders to identify and access best resources (internal or external) with which to work
  • Develop talented individuals and provides access to internal customers who require specific content knowledge and/or capabilities relevant to their continuous improvement program. Ensure budget and team resources for our customers continuous improvement efforts and stays there until the work can be sustained by their own operation. Support deployment of R&D(Research and Development) strategy through effective utilization of CI resources where needed, within the functional area of expertise
  • Provide R&D wide visibility of the current portfolio of continuous improvement efforts, tracks via KPIs(Key Performance Indicators) progress and value from these efforts to help decision makers allocate resources and recognize success, with special focus on operational cost reduction. Work effectively with other CI leaders to standardize processes and develop best practices
  • Provide training, coaching and facilitation support to individuals and teams so that they are better equipped to drive their improvement efforts for themselves. Support/Train in line with training and development structure for respective locations and to make sure the knowledge is well transferred within the CI community
  • Drive cultural transformation within the scope of responsibility, with a hands on ('Gemba') approach. Understand and promote behavioral change to continuously improve function performance through programs and initiatives
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering with minimum 8 years of experience applying lean methodologies and problem solving tools in R&D/Engineering environment with exposure to product design and development of electric motors.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and customer support experience are required
  • Lean Certification (Six Sigma green belt or higher certification) is - preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO compliance, quality systems, change management, supplier certification, value stream mapping, kaizen, six sigma, KPI's, DOE, DMAIC and SPC
  • Experience in practicing breakthrough thinking and navigating complex challenges
  • Strong analytical, financial, and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
