Job Summary
Join us as our Senior Additive Manufacturing (AM) Development Engineer in an exciting role in an innovative team. Take the lead in managing AM projects across multiple business units, guiding us through unexplored territory in this cutting-edge field.

In this role, you'll be involved in designing, analyzing, developing, and validating new AM applications, processes, products, and materials. Collaborate with lab technicians to operate AM machines, create prototypes, and conduct thorough tests and data collection to ensure the successful implementation of groundbreaking AM solutions.

Responsibilities

Design and Analysis:
  • Support the development, design, and prototyping of components and systems for AM.
  • Analyze and assess designs for performance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Conduct simulations and modeling to predict and optimize AM component and system behavior.
  • Evaluate new materials and AM techniques for product applications.
Product Development:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to take new AM products from concept to prototype and production.
  • Create detailed engineering models and specifications.
  • Apply engineering principles in the product development process.
Testing and Prototyping:
  • Oversee experiments and tests to validate AM designs and prototypes.
  • Conduct experiments and tests to assess and validate new AM materials for different product applications.
  • Operate AM equipment to produce and evaluate AM designs and prototypes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process enhancements.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions for improved performance.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records, including design files, test data, and reports.
  • Communicate project progress and findings through technical reports and presentations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Certification in the field of business.
  • 6-10+ years of experience as a mechanical and/or manufacturing engineer
  • Project management skills with the ability to provide technical training.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving skills for fast-paced environments.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • On-site position.
  • US Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% domestically to Ingersoll Rand facilities.
Key Competencies
  • Proficiency with CAD software and modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with various AM machines and processes.
  • Knowledge of plastics, polymers, and powder metal materials.
  • Experience with Finite Element (FE) software and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong organization and multitasking abilities.
  • Collaboration with team members.
