Department Overview:
A Personnel Security Specialist delivers professional and dynamic assistance to employees undergoing vetting by various Government agencies in accordance with agency-specific policies and procedures. Ensures prompt and precise support to personnel reporting Business and Personal Foreign Travel (FT) and other relevant matters following Sponsor requirements and processes. Additional responsibilities as designated.
Role Summary:
- Manage cases within your domain and maintain detailed personnel security records using a robust MITRE-developed security database.
- Utilize different government personnel security databases for submissions and status checks that are accessible to the industry.
- Process employees and contingent workers for background investigations via eApp and other tools.
- Regularly follow up to obtain case status from sponsors, update databases, and keep subjects well-informed.
- Conduct project revalidations, prepare security documentation with project leaders, and offer periodic progress reports to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure processing procedures and instructions are kept relevant and accurate.
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with sponsor counterparts to guarantee understanding and compliance with personnel security policies.
- Perform general office duties as necessary (e.g. fingerprinting, counter support, document scanning, reviews, running reports, etc.) and be willing to work overtime when needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must hold a Top Secret clearance.
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of applicable work experience in a service-focused administrative setting. Familiarity with eApp, SF86, DISS, NBIS, 32 CFR 117, and ICD 704 is advantageous.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and quick adaptation to new concepts.
- Capacity to handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII) with utmost discretion.
