THE POSITION:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


As a Forensic Scientist Trainee, you will participate in a structured serology training program designed to develop knowledge, understanding, and technical skill related to physiological fluid analysis, hair identification, report preparation, and courtroom testimony.

You will perform serological testing on evidence submitted to the laboratory for the detection, identification, and characterization of biological fluids.

Your work will require limited technical skills initially, and will be performed with increasing independence as experience is gained.

You will work under the immediate supervision of a laboratory supervisor who assigns and reviews work in progress and upon completion.

Work Schedule and Additional Information**:

  • Fulltime employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science, or a closely related physical or natural science, which includes or is supplemented by 16 college credits in chemistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass criminal history and background investigations.
