College Corner Guide

Par-time position - 19 hrs
per week Hourly Rate:

***: Facilitates and provides direct service to middle school an high school students targeting tutoring, post-secondary mentorship workshops, fieltrips, and presentations.
This position is for a school semester and will be re-evaluated at the beginning of each semester. This is a part time hourly position up to 19 hours a week.
Essential Duties
- Outreach with youth and parents
- Provide group and individual academic tutoring
- Facilitate secondary and postsecondary workshops
- Researches and identifies financial aid resources including: scholarships, loans, federal work study, and AB540 financial support
- Update and incorporate resources for the College Corner
- Coordinate and execute college fieldtrips and special events
- Attend campus field trips
- Maintain client academic files and document followup efforts
- Collaborate with key staff including case managers, onsite partners, and local schools
- Oversees and coordinates peer support groups
- Concurrent enrollment in a postsecondary institution or graduated college in the past 2 years.
- Knowledge of transfer requirements and supportive services
- Prior academic tutoring experience preferred
- Knowledge of undocumented student resources including AB40, The California Dream Act and DACA
- Experience working with youth required
- Access to consistent and reliable transportation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong written and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds and atrisk populations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Must be available to work afternoons & (1) Saturday a month in person during the Fall & Spring Semesters, SW FSC.
- Must be available to work a hybrid schedule; some remote work and in house.
