Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEWThis professional's primary objective is to create or modify prototype concepts and tooling from renderings or engineering drawings using various hand tools and machines.

They will program, set up, and operate CNC machines, such as lathes, mills and EDM to make working models from various metal and plastic materials.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAbility to read and understand engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD T).Ability to inspect own parts using standard manual/hand inspection equipment.

People skills (working closely with engineers and understanding their needs and schedules).Provide feedback to engineering teams on design adjustments to improve manufacturability.

Strong ability to be innovative and work autonomously on creative solutions to complicated machining problems.

Capable of designing tooling/fixtures and then fabricating; inclusive of material selection and proper selection of outside operations (e.g., heat treat, black oxide).Collaborate with engineers and assembly teams to optimize tooling designs and enable efficient machining processes.

Knowledge and experience with typical toolroom equipment such as drill presses, lathes, grinders, EDM, CNC lathes and CNC mills. Good tool making skills, practices, and knowledge.
Use computer software to program machines.
Ensure equipment within the work cell is within calibration and working order.
Performing basic machine maintenance, such as cleaning and sharpening.
Maintain an organized work cell utilizing 5S lean principles.
Participate and engage in continuous improvement activities as part of our company culture and objectives.

RequirementsCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS PREFERRED ExperienceHigh school, or equivalent required Completion of two years of college or graduation from a two-year technical college with an associate degree preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skillsMinimum of six months of related working experience Experience with Microsoft OfficeProficiency with CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code and M-code)Experience with Esprit (CAM) is preferred.

Experience with programming Tsugami and Haas Lathe is a plus.
Prior aerospace or space industry programming and machining experience with prototype and flight hardware is a plus.
