Due to our continuous growth, we are excited to announce a new opportunity for the role of School Based Counselor. In this position, based within a school environment, the Counselor will independently engage with clients, families, school staff, and other stakeholders to address the mental and behavioral health needs of students. The Counselor will conduct assessments, provide individual and group therapy sessions, and serve as a dedicated advocate for clients while collaborating with school partners. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach, there is ample room for cooperation with a diverse team of professionals. Moreover, the Counselor will render support, intervention, and consultation within the school setting across specified districts. Furthermore, this position permits up to 8 weeks of paid leave during the summer months, with supervision provided for licensure progression.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mental and behavioral health services to children and adolescents within Lake County school systems.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and community members as necessary.
  • Offer both group and individual therapy sessions within school premises.
  • Establish connections between parents and external resources within the community.
  • Provide crisis intervention when required.
  • Conduct home visits based on client and district needs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth.
  • At least 1 year of experience in school settings.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field is mandatory, with a preference for a Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related disciplines.
  • LPC, LSW, MFT certification is a must.
  • LPCC, LISW, IMFT certification is desirable.
  • Proven track record of establishing rapport with children and adolescents.
  • Possession of reliable transportation.
  • Valid drivers license with less than 4 points and sufficient auto insurance coverage.
