Your responsibilities will include working on the preliminary and final design of roadway geometry, performing design calculations, creating layouts, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. It will also be essential for you to address design challenges with proactive and creative solutions, review design work according to the Design Quality Management Plan, and participate in professional development activities to expand your professional network. Additionally, you may contribute to defining work scopes, budgets, and timelines.

Key Duties:

  • Preliminary and Final Roadway Design - overseeing all aspects of roadway design such as preliminary layouts, exhibits, alignments, profiles, and intersection details
  • ADA Design - planning and implementing accessible pedestrian facilities in both new and existing structures
  • Intersection Design - creating designs that prioritize safety and efficiency at various types of intersections
  • Multi-disciplinary Design Integration - ensuring seamless integration of roadway, drainage, and traffic designs for a cohesive final product
  • Plans, Specs, and Estimates - leading the development of comprehensive PS&E packages for successful project completion
  • Quality Control - verifying technical documents for accuracy, adherence to standards, feasibility, and practicality
  • Project Leadership - coordinating the design team's efforts to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Team Development - devising tasks for junior team members to enhance their skills and foster a commitment to excellence

Requirements:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in transportation design
  • Solid technical knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and familiarity with MnDOT State Aid Standards
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD Civil 3D for transportation projects
  • Experience in supervising, mentoring, and leading project teams
  • Previous involvement in preparing proposals, defining scopes, setting budgets, and creating schedules
  • Track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Previous exposure to utility design encompassing watermain and sewer systems
