This role is based in NYC or SF and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.
This is a key position responsible for ensuring an exceptional media playback experience on Android devices.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and improvement of the media player, working closely with both the content team and the mobile platform team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Collaboration with Media Team:
Work closely with the media team to understand their requirements and deliver a world-class media playback experience on Android devices.
Technical Expertise:
Leverage a familiarity with Exoplayer to enhance the quality and reliability of media playbacks. In this role you will need to develop the expertise required to fully own media quality on Android.
Platform Support:
Collaborate with the mobile platform team to provide support to Android engineers, contributing to the overall success of Patreon's Android application.
Scaling Capabilities:
Scale video and/or audio capabilities to meet the demands of a large user base, supporting millions of views per week.
Performance Optimization:
Collect and analyze performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations to enhance the overall performance and reliability of media playback.
About You6+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Proficiency with the Kotlin programming language.
Familiarity with Exoplayer is a plus.
A track record of scaling, improving quality, and increasing reliability of media consumption on Android.
Strong understanding of optimization and performance issues on Android.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
