About the Role and Company:
MITRE is searching for an enthusiastic and skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. As an individual with a strong engineering background, you'll be excited to use your expertise in creating real-time solutions that meet user requirements. Your role will involve developing innovative methods to deliver mission value rapidly through automation, devising new strategies to address complex challenges, and building proofs of concept and prototypes. You'll also conduct studies and analyses to assist our sponsors in decision-making, assess emerging technologies, and offer impartial technical advice. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Help define, develop, prioritize, and execute project work plans with specific goals, deliverables, and sponsor outcomes in mind.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and leaders across various company divisions, projects, and portfolios.
  • Create and implement advanced data-driven solutions for complex problems using machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analysis techniques.
  • Design, develop, and manage data pipelines, storage systems, and data processing workflows.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and feature engineering to support the development of predictive models and decision tools.
  • Evaluate the performance of machine learning models and algorithms, optimizing them for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear reports, presentations, and visual aids.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in data science, machine learning, and related fields, applying this knowledge to enhance existing solutions and develop new capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduate in data science/analytics, mathematics, or a related technical field with 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a Master's / PhD in a related technical field and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible for a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Expertise in specific technical areas (data science methods, modeling techniques, research methodologies, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering/analytics tools and programming languages like Python, R, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team on research topics, data analysis, model development, testing, and result interpretation.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Hybrid on-site work presence of at least 50% is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in data science/analytics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing using tools such as Pandas, NumPy, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and libraries like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau.
  • A solid understanding of mission and digital engineering concepts and their application in modeling, prototyping, and experimentation.
  • Familiarity with analytical simulation and prototyping processes.
  • Over 5 years of experience analyzing data in transportation and/or logistics domains.
  • Active TS Clearance
