Job Description:

  • The Process Engineer will provide support in diagnosing and resolving software, instrument, and process issues to maintain manufacturing packaging equipment and data historian network readiness. Ensuring site compliance and timely completion of all essential activities to maintain equipment functionality.
  • As part of the Engineering team, you will offer daily assistance to the Packaging Operations Department with continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshooting machines, and integrating new assets and technologies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, and execute long-term continuous improvement projects through collaboration with site leadership and Operations team.
  • Evaluate process enhancements to cut costs, boost efficiency, and enhance quality.
  • Identify, assess, and execute process enhancement strategies to increase worker productivity, reduce expenses, and minimize material and utility wastage like job duty restructuring, workflow reorganization, workstation/equipment relocation, and new equipment/technology acquisitions.
  • Lead various project engineering tasks and related schedules, utilizing effective project management methodologies from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with Production to optimize workflow setups and configurations for enhanced output.
  • Assess and drive engineering projects aimed at reducing setup durations, boosting machine speeds, cutting labor hours, lowering rejection rates, and improving quality.
  • Create technical specifications and relevant documentation for Engineering project designs and equipment upgrades.
  • Conduct deviation investigations, change controls, and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Review and authorize Engineering and Validation documents.
  • Act as the site system administrator for all automated equipment and regular maintenance activities.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field from an accredited College or University is a must.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering experience in GMP, pharmaceutical, or food industry is required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience with designing, programming, modeling, and testing automated systems like robotics and clinical packaging equipment to ensure adherence to specifications and validation standards is highly preferred.
  • Prior exposure to working within GAMP 5 and GMP environments is strongly desired.
  • Able to configure process control system software, create recipes, and gather/format process data to support production or quality department requirements.
  • Proficient in process improvement, industrial design applications relevant to job shop settings.
  • Familiarity with blister machines, bottling, carding, labeling, and syringe assembly is advantageous.
  • Results-driven individual comfortable with training, guiding, and mentoring colleagues and cross-functional team members.
  • Possess analytical skills in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Single¬ Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) for enhanced quality, reduced rejects, and streamlined processes.
  • Experience in failure analysis and reliability engineering is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to develop Requirement Specifications, FMEAs, Protocols, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
  • Experience in PLC Automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, troubleshooting, and modifications is desired.
  • Familiarity with developing advanced process control applications using various programming formats like sequential function charts, function blocks, and PLC ladder logic is beneficial.
