Engineering Manager - Hardware

Rockwell Automation is looking for someone to grow their career as an Engineering Manager. As an Engineering Manager at Rockwell Automation, your team will support the hardware (electrical-mechanical embedded systems) in the process safety space. You will see and manage a team of electrical engineers in their functional area. You can make major impacts on product developments, collaborating with leadership across Engineering, Product Management, Business, Operations, Project Management, and Quality.

In this role you will manage the delivery of objectives but also get involved in the technical details and decision making. The environment fosters a collaborative and innovative approach to work with teams and manufacturers across the globe. It is dynamic, and requires an individual with a passion for development and test. In this role you will expect to be a leader and mentor and coach your team to maintain high levels. With success in this role, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop with increased scope and responsibility.

You will work hybrid from our Milwaukee office and will report to the VP- Hardware engineering.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 15 people of diverse electrical backgrounds in a servant leadership manner to provide coordination and guidance for your team in the areas of tools, engineering development, test, and mitigation of quality issues.
  • Take leadership for an organizational initiative and work across peer managers across the world to move that area forward. This could be areas like talent management, continuous integration/ delivery, or process change, among others.
  • You will also be responsible for project sponsorship as well for the enterprise around development tools. This would likely be global development
  • Ensure development activities comply with corporate and business level processes and procedures.
  • Help the team think and create a continuous improvement mindset against those procedures.
  • Help your team eliminate unnecessary work by leading improvement activities in design capabilities and processes so your team is the best in development execution.
  • Create quality designs and software delivered and tested right the first time.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • Experience in product development ideally in the delivery of printed circuit board / embedded products.
  • Working with different levels of staff across functional boundaries
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum way, in a Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Experience with PCBA manufacturing and test.
  • Experience in industrial automation product development or related technical areas, including background with large-scale system development projects
  • Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development
  • Experience in project management, either as a combination of technical lead and project management role or as a dedicated project manager
  • Experience developing electronic systems that meet functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 or IEC 61511
  • Experience developing electronic systems that meet security standards, such as IEC
