The Controls Engineer collaborates closely with Sales, Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Suppliers, and installation teams to develop essential documentation for selling, producing, installing, and operating material handling equipment.


POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, among other assigned tasks:

  • Developing electrical schematics for conveyor systems utilizing 2-D CAD software
  • Creating PLC ladder logic for various PLCs
  • Designing HMI applications
  • Troubleshooting electrical and controls issues related to the Company's engineered products
  • Traveling to customer sites upon request to evaluate product installations, aid in startup and testing, and troubleshoot to ensure operations align with customer specifications
  • Collaborating with the engineering team or other company associates to enhance existing approaches and methods
  • Converting customer requirements into 2D/3D Cad layouts in conjunction with the Sales or Project Team
  • Conducting electrical engineering and design for equipment application within a material handling system
  • Providing guidance on selecting appropriate material handling equipment based on product and system needs
  • Generating specifications, system layouts, and procurement, manufacturing, and installation Bill of Materials for the equipment
  • Assisting in preparing quotes and proposals for customer presentations
  • Independently gathering information for creating drawings, taking site measurements, and obtaining necessary details from subcontractors or suppliers
  • Developing specifications for special features
  • Performing any other tasks as directed by management
  • Coordinating and monitoring equipment site acceptance completion and reporting readiness for commissioning
  • Participating in post-project meetings to suggest design or concept modifications in response to installation challenges


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in conveyor, material handling, or related industries
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and advanced MS Excel
  • Domestic travel ability of 20-30%
  • Preparing and maintaining electrical engineering documentation for project procedures and safety compliance
  • Conducting necessary work to meet project schedules
  • Knowledge of conveyor application engineering
  • Familiarity with Electrical/Controls Engineering principles and tools
  • Experience in Rockwell Studio5000 PLC Programming
  • Proficiency in Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio and/or Rockwell Optix HMI platforms
  • Experience with 460VAC / 120VAC / 24VDC Electrical Design
  • Expertise in Electrical Troubleshooting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While on the job, the colleague may frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear; handle objects or controls manually. Occasionally, climbing and working at elevated locations, bending, stooping, or reaching above the shoulders may be required. The colleague must also be able to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
