JR Hwy Cost Estimator (Open)

Job Description:
As a Highway Cost Estimator at the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), you will collaborate with various professionals within NDOT, consultants, and agencies. Working from design to construction stages, you and your team will impact the Department's financial planning directly.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare construction cost estimates for labor, materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Review and analyze cost estimates and bid proposals
  • Update cost estimates for long-range projects
  • Enter amounts in the Program/Project Management System
  • Research and provide price data
  • Prepare reports for contracts and project costs
  • Identify cost discrepancies and offer guidance to designers
  • Attend meetings to evaluate cost information
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Experience in highway or bridge construction or design interpretation
  • Preferred experience in highway or bridge cost estimating

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of design and construction procedures, cost estimating practices
  • Skills in applying mathematical equations and data manipulation
  • Ability to read engineering plans, communicate effectively, and use computer systems
