AWS is in search of a Solution Architect to collaborate closely with sales leaders, account teams, Partners, and Professional Services. The Mainframe Application Modernization team at WWSO positions AWS as the optimal platform for hosting Mainframe workloads. Our team supports customers in migrating Mainframe Applications and data to the AWS cloud, providing a secure, reliable, and scalable environment for customers to innovate and realize new possibilities.
You collaborate with technical and business teams across AWS, integrating customer feedback into our product development roadmap. The WW team focuses on the big picture, laying out strategies for the most customer-centric technical teams to make a mark in history.
The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) operates within AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), driving revenue, adoption, and growth across various customer segments. We tackle complex and critical challenges faced by our customers to develop go-to-market strategies that transform innovative ideas into successful ventures.

Key job responsibilities
- Represent the customer's voice, conveying feedback to product teams to shape feature development and future product roadmap.
- Provide advanced technical expertise to GTM teams aligned with your domain to address customers' major business challenges effectively.
- Serve as a thought leader by sharing best practices through various mediums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, and speaking engagements at events like AWS Summit and AWS re: Invent.
- Collaborate with Business Development teams to define the technical aspects of leading GTM concepts, solutions, and endeavors.
- Establish and support a global community of technical subject matter experts within AWS, creating enablement materials for SA professionals to integrate AWS solutions into customer architectures.
A day in the life
As a Mainframe Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, you will cultivate technical relationships with customers of all sizes, crafting solutions to expedite their journey to the cloud. Operating as their trusted advisor, you will ensure they maximize the benefits of the cloud throughout their progression, engaging with senior leaders and technical stakeholders to drive enhanced agility and substantial business value.
You will oversee the technical relationship between AWS and our clients, offering insights on security, cost efficiency, performance optimization, reliability, and operational efficiency to accelerate large-scale Migration projects. Internally, you will represent the customer's interests, influencing the development of AWS features. Externally, in your role as a Mainframe Migration Specialist Solutions Architect, you will collaborate with large enterprises, aiding them in leading migration readiness assessments and crafting migration and modernization strategies.
About the team
WWSO consists of business development, specialist, and technical solutions architecture professionals. As a part of WWSO, you will provide expertise throughout the lifecycle of an AWS customer project, from conceiving new services to boosting the adoption of established businesses. We pride ourselves on thinking expansively, delivering exceptional outcomes for our customers, and collaborating across AWS.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructures
- 5+ years of expertise in specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking
- 5+ years of managing technical, customer-facing resources
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in architecting/operating solutions on AWS
- Experience in migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

Compensation
Our compensation structure reflects regional labor costs. The base salary for this role ranges from $122,900/year in the lowest cost market to $239,000/year in the highest cost market. Compensation is influenced by factors such as market location, job knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon provides a comprehensive compensation package, which may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and various benefits in addition to medical and financial benefits.
