Job Description Summary:
Responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and management of the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department, overseeing Medical Records, Release of Information, and Transcription services.
Serves as a key resource for the Medical Staff and hospital personnel on matters related to Accreditation, state and federal laws, confidentiality issues, and reimbursement guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Information Management or a Business-Related Field
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Direct support experience for a Digital Medical Record system, including Workflow Development and Design
- Minimum five years' experience in supporting or managing a Health Information Management department
- Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA)
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY SKILLS:
Ability to operate a personal computer using a Windows Operating System, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Direct support experience for a Digital Medical Record system, including Workflow Development and Design, and knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
