The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (MFWP) Regional Headquarters offers information and services to the public for hunting, fishing, and recreational activities within the region. The regional headquarters oversees and coordinates all Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks activities in the region, implementing local programs with support from the Helena headquarters.

The Front Desk unit, led by the regional office manager, provides customer service to sportsmen/women in Montana and technical and administrative support to all programs at the MFWP Regional Headquarters. The regional administrative support team is the main point of contact for the public, presenting a professional image for FWP. The front desk also serves as a primary FWP license agent, accurately issuing various hunting, fishing, and miscellaneous licenses, permits, and decals, and correcting errors on licenses sold by external providers.

Job Duties:

  • Provide customer service, technical, and administrative support for fish, wildlife, state parks, law enforcement, and information programs.
  • Handle money related to license sales and accurately enter transactions into a cash register.
  • Maintain detailed records and track quotas for various hunting seasons.
  • Assist with the block management program, issuing permissions slips and managing data in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Requires advanced Excel and Office 365 skills.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

The majority of tasks are performed in an office environment. The incumbent must work independently, handle multiple tasks, stand for extended periods during peak seasons, and sit for prolonged periods working on computers. Must be able to lift 40-pound boxes and handle difficult customer interactions.

  • Thorough understanding of office principles and practices.
  • Proficient in business English and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in operating various office equipment and software, including Excel.
  • Ability to explain policies and procedures clearly.
  • Strong memory retention and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, flexible, and professional demeanor.
  • Experience in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

The requirements for this position are typically met through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and at least 1 year of related work experience. Alternative combinations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
