This is a full-time position for an Release of Information Clerk. The hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. In this position you will establish an office environment that provides prompt, courteous service to consumers, families and agencies. You will also be responsible for the following:
  • Responds to requests for patient information and release of patient information
  • Processes all request for release of patient information in accordance with all federal and state laws
  • The specialist must safeguard and protect the patient's privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to patient information and that all release of information is in compliance with the request, authorization, facility policy and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED certified with courses that include business English and medical terminology; or completion of an approved medical secretarial training program.
  • Understanding of release of information, HIPAA, privacy and confidentiality laws.
  • Experience in a health care setting with knowledge of release of information requirements.
  • Associates Degree as a Medical Secretary preferred.
