Summary:

The Vice President of Finance plays a crucial role in conducting financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for a leading national mortgage banking firm. As a valued member leading the Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A) team, this position involves close interaction with various internal departments, including senior management. Ideal candidates are highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison with the parent company for forecasts, financial reporting, and related FP&A matters. Foster strong partnerships with internal stakeholders such as Accounting and Treasury departments.
  • Supervise a team responsible for consolidated financial reporting, Corporate FP&A, balance sheet management, and capital planning.
  • Collaborate with Originations, Corporate, and Servicing FP&A teams to develop comprehensive financial forecasts and management reports.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the company's financial performance, capital position, and strategic direction. Oversee balance sheet and cash flow models for multiple legal entities.
  • Manage quarterly reporting of financial metrics and KPIs for segment reporting and earnings materials.
  • Lead benchmarking exercises against industry competitors on a quarterly basis.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses for senior management to support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Spearhead special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing current financial processes.
  • Thrive in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, demonstrating ownership and accountability in assigned areas.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and coaching to cultivate a high-performing team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's Degree or MBA highly desirable. CPA or CFA certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in a high-pressure environment using advanced spreadsheet functions, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Background in mortgage, banking, or financial services is preferred.
  • Strong interest in data flow automation.
  • Quick learner who excels in fast-paced settings.
  • Thorough comprehension of financial statements.
  • Solid analytical skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership proficiencies, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in time-sensitive conditions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for constructing and maintaining complex models, proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
