What you get to do:
As a Project Specialist, you'll assist our Design & Engineering Leadership team on the execution of capital projects, as assigned for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. You will also:

  • Tracking multiple capital projects to ensure budgets and deadlines are met
  • Preparing project contract documents such as invitation to bid, RFQs and contractor bid breakdowns for assigned projects, as well as coordinating project work and communication between Corporate Procurement, D&E and Park leader
  • Supporting work for assigned projects, including site walk-throughs and facility assessments, field coordination, quality control, attending contractor meetings, attending design review meetings, conducting code reviews, maintaining project files and records, maintaining park drawings, and assisting with sourcing of drawing and design details, as requested
  • Coordinating Park access documents for contractors working on property
  • Provide monthly accruals of capital costs as required by company controls
  • Entering and tracking of capital authorization requests
  • Ensure capital project closings occur with company defined timeframes
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports for Corporate Finance
  • Identifies assets that are affected by capital spending and documents removal/impairment.
  • Assist with capital requisitions
  • Ensure lien waiver compliance with contractors and subcontractors
  • Maintain strict adherence to SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment's (SEA's) Capital Projects Controls and Procedures, as well as all applicable construction codes and building standards.
  • Engage and coordinate the efforts of internal resources, including SEA Environmental, Legal, Safety, Engineering, Sourcing, Revenue, and others, as needed to complete assigned projects.

  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, project estimates, schedule of values, and contractual terms and conditions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple duties with competing deadlines, preferably in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications, working knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Ability to provide strong analytical skills
  • Flexibility to perform varied duties
What else is important:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related technical field, preferred
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed
  • Previous theme park experience, preferred
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing).
  • Able to walk/stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to navigate uneven surfaces and walk project sites
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization, as well as in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes
  • Must provide flexible, consistent availability (including nights, weekends and holidays) and adhere to our Holiday and Availability agreement
  • Consistently practice safe work habits including the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and reporting unsafe situations
  • Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
