Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Operations is responsible for overseeing store operations and achieving company goals and directives.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively.
  • Proactively assist customers with problem-solving.
  • Greet and thank customers upon entering and leaving the store.
  • Have a friendly and helpful attitude towards customers and colleagues.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Demonstrate excellent product knowledge and familiarity with store layout.

Store Operations

  • Ensure a positive and safe work environment for all associates.
  • Supervise general store operations.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures.
  • Support the implementation of company programs.
  • Monitor Loss Prevention, Safety, and Audits.
  • Collaborate with management on store operations.
  • Participate in management meetings.
  • Address issues with the support center when necessary.
  • Assist with district projects.
  • Implement new procedures into store operations.
  • Maintain store cleanliness and organization.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and labeling.
  • Supervise cashier functions and training.
  • Manage maintenance and repairs.
  • Stay informed about competitors.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Ensure safe and efficient forklift operations.
  • Maintain merchandise stocking standards.
  • Manage back stock levels.
  • Oversee timely inventory counts.
  • Optimize product levels and store profitability.
  • Contribute to merchandise display efforts.
  • Maintain current store signage.
  • Present a well-organized sales floor.

Hiring & Training

  • Train associates.
  • Promote associate development.
  • Assist in hiring and scheduling.

Leadership

  • Oversee store operations in absence of General Manager.
  • Lead by example and be accessible to associates and customers.
  • Attend store meetings.
  • Share ideas with General Manager for improvement.
  • Prepare for future growth opportunities.

Key Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior retail management experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hardware is a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and climb as needed.

Compensation

$20.00/hour
