Zones General Manager
Job Summary
Operations and Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and stewardship of university features and facilities and consists of Central Shops, Teams and Zones Maintenance.
Additionally, Zones Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, refrigeration, indoor air quality, indoor air handling systems, drinking fountains, and classrooms.
As the Zones General Manager, you will:
- Manage and supervise the operations and personnel activities of the multi-craft zones for Residential Zones.
- Serve as manager for the Zone Leaders/Supervisors.
- Assist in the development of the departmental budget, administer work budgets, assign and approve work orders.
- Approve departmental expenditures. Serve as a resource to supervisors and customers for high profile projects/issues.
- Provide technical advice on zone maintenance.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Building Construction, Supervision, Management, or related technical area
- Five years' experience in facilities management or related area with supervisory experience
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associates degree with seven years' experience or high school diploma with nine years of experience
- General knowledge of one or more areas in the mechanical operations fields
- Knowledge of building construction and maintenance codes
- Knowledge of general construction
- Leadership and counseling abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Blueprint reading skills and ability to estimate time and materials
- Strong organization and math skills
Preferred:
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building construction and maintenance
