Responsibilities as a Field Service Engineer:

  • Assist in the on-site installation of sophisticated equipment and perform testing procedures for functionality
  • Support scheduled maintenance visits at customer locations
  • Offer troubleshooting and repair assistance to clients and fellow field service professionals
  • Cultivate positive relationships with customers, system users, and company staff

  • Travel to customer sites for issue resolution or to support field service colleagues at short notice
  • Complete and submit reports on field service activities
  • Deliver training on system maintenance to users
  • Collaborate with application scientists to develop effective solutions
  • Maintain Thermo Fisher Scientific's 4i Values

Requirements:

Education
  • Associate degree in electronics, physics, engineering, computer science, or related field preferred; or 1-3 years of relevant experience
Experience

1-3 years' Experience or adeptness in:
  • Operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating complex analysis tools like SEM, TEM, FIB, Prober, or similar systems (optional)
  • Experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV), operating O-scopes, digital voltmeter, and logical problem solving (optional)
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure and make decisions independently
  • Detail-oriented, problem-solving, teamwork-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience using Windows software environments and basic troubleshooting skills (preferred)
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, excellent interpersonal communication, time management, and customer service skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, possess a valid driver's license and passport, may need to demonstrate proof of Covid-19 vaccination
  • Must meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel may be required regionally and internationally
  • May work in various environments including customer locations, office settings, and laboratories
  • Ability to access US Government facilities if needed
  • Use of personal protective equipment in certain environments
