DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

At CHA, the food service department has a key role in ensuring the satisfaction of patients and colleagues. The team enhances the patient experience by providing three quality meals daily directly to the patient's bedside. The 'Expressly for You' program assigns each patient a dedicated Food Service Host/Hostess to address dining needs. Meal orders are taken bedside and entered electronically via a tablet, integrating with the hospital medical system for personalized dietary care. Additionally, the department runs a newly renovated cafeteria with a variety of fresh, local options like a salad bar, daily fresh soups, deli, and favorite dishes at the entrée station. There's also a range of snacks, beverages, and full breakfast offerings available.

Summary:
Performs various tasks related to preparing, handling, serving, transporting, and storing food items. May also engage in non-food activities such as cashiering, cleaning, and sanitation, as well as moving equipment and washing dishes.

Responsibilities:
Food production:

  • Prepares and assembles cold salads following recipe cards and nutritional guidelines
  • Prepares dessert items according to recipes and production standards
  • Properly labels, dates, and wraps all items and follows daily production sheets accurately
  • Ensures correct portion control and utensil use in food assembly
  • Washes all produce before preparation
  • Stores food appropriately after serving portions
  • Prepares salads, salad bar items, and specialty food items
  • Operates food service equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assists in preparing non-ready to eat foods

Associate/Customer/Patient Service:

  • Maintains customer-centric attitude
  • Performs cashiering duties following guidelines
  • Delivers trays and meals professionally and promptly
  • Serves customers courteously
  • Assembles and delivers patient trays accurately
  • Takes on additional responsibilities after completing assigned tasks
  • Adapts break times or schedules as needed
  • Performs tasks as required
  • Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of work areas

Sanitation:

  • Properly cleans and sanitizes workstations after use
  • Maintains cleanliness in dining areas
  • Disposes of trash and garbage
  • Washes and polishes food service equipment
  • Follows a 'clean as you go' work ethic
  • Cleans work areas and related items routinely
  • Assists in machine washing/ hand washing items
  • Prepares equipment for use and cleans it properly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred.
