About You and this Role

Dowis seeking anSenior Electrical Design Engineerto join our team inHouston, Texas

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support projects valued at $10MM or greater.

As a member of a multi-discipline, capital project design team, you will be responsible for the development and detailed design of electrical systems for Chemical Process Units.

You will lead engineers, designers, and drafters to develop and assemble the construction contract packages in accordance with the project objectives.


With support from your peer/technical coach, you will learn and effectively apply the Dow design tools, work processes, Dow standards and best practices.

Once familiar with Dow standards and work processes, you will be expected to work independently.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the required deliverables produced by the project electrical design team.

Represent the electrical design team in project team meetings.


Work closely with Design staff to coordinate, supervise, or develop the design of electrical plans, grounding, lighting, cable raceway systems, basic power distribution including low-voltage installations, low voltage distribution.

Develop and/or review detailed equipment specifications, inquiry/order packages, job instructions, drawings, and installation details for construction contracts.

Perform and/or review calculations for sizing low and medium voltage distribution equipment.

Develop major electrical equipment specifications and work with the internal procurement organization and suppliers to execute orders.

Development of the Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Meter & Relay One Line Diagrams, and Control Schematics.


Perform and/or review all Power System Studies (Short Circuit, Load Flow, Protective Relay Coordination Studies, etc.) to insure appropriate equipment ratings.

Define and document Protective Relay Settings.

Provide electrical system commissioning and start-up support as needed.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (IEC, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, BSS, Cenelec, etc.)

Prior experience in the area of heavy industrial, petrochemical, refinery, or utility power systems engineering.

Understanding of 3D Design Modeling Software.

Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical power equipment.

Working knowledge of MicroStation SE and/or AutoCAD.

Strong initiative and team leadership capabilities.

Strong interpersonal relationship and time-management.
