Senior Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Space Systems (Onsite)

Technical Lead in electrical design and development for human-rated space systems and subsystems. Responsibilities span requirements capture, architecture, detailed design, verification, test, qualification, and production.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Designs major electrical, electronics, and electromechanical components of a functional system for space.
  • Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product development, integration, and test.
  • Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends/implements robust and timely solutions.
  • Coordinates with other organizations affected by electrical design to exchange information, ideas and techniques for optimizing product development.
  • Trains, instructs, and provides technical guidance to other engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build technical and professional capabilities.
  • Provide realistic estimates of engineering work, schedule, and resource requirements for the preparation of program bids or proposals.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Proficiency with schematic capture, PWB design, circuit simulation, & mathematical analysis tools.
  • Full life cycle electrical hardware design and development experience
  • Electrical radiation testing and mitigation strategy experience
  • EMI testing and design mitigation strategy experience
  • Environmental testing, including vibration, thermal vacuum, and power quality experience
  • Working knowledge of NASA Design & Construction standards for hardware development.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • NASA JSC test facility experience
  • NASA JSC power quality experience
  • NASA ISS communication experience
  • NASA ISS payload experience
  • NASA SSP documentation experience

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
