The Lab Support Technician I, will be a member of the lab services in vitro biomanufacturing team. The position involves culturing, customer provided, hybridoma cells that produce monoclonal antibodies. Once produced the antibodies are refined, quality control tested, and the finished product is delivered. The company is well established and growing, with a worldwide customer base. Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Use sterile technique to propagate cell lines for inoculation onto biomanufacturing platforms. Techniques include, but are not limited to, thawing and freezing cell lines, cell counting, preparation of large-scale cell cultures, harvest, and quality control testing of complex biological mixtures and reagents, etc.
  • Strict adherence to Envigo Bioproducts Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Keep accurate records, using proper documentation practices.
  • Entry of applicable data into computer databases.
  • According to Envigo Bioproducts guidelines, prepare required reagents, formulation specialized growth media, autoclave/dry bake sterilize items, clean and disinfect rooms and equipment.
  • Maintain routine laboratory supplies at adequate levels.
  • Communicate with Group Leader and/or Supervisor when any deviation from established procedures or routines occurs.
  • Perform other biomanufacturing duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Specific requirements

  • Minimum of a two-year Associates degree in Life Sciences and 1-3 years working experience required. A Bachelor of Sciences a plus.
  • Experience using sterile aseptic technique or experience in a microbiology and/or tissue culture laboratory preferred.
  • Experience working specifically in a clinical or research and development laboratory or biomanufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work as part of the Lab Services team to communicate results and discuss options for problem solving.
  • Must be able to perform mathematical calculations required for cell culture scale up and quality control testing.
  • Experience in basic computer entry, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be dependable and punctual and be available for weekend work and overtime as needed.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and organize laboratory workload.
  • Must be able to lift 25 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the persons relevant experience and/or education level.
