The Senior Correctional Officer plays a key role in supervising both administrative and operational security activities within a correctional facility. Responsibilities include direct supervision of Correctional Officers, ensuring the protection and preservation of inmates' legal rights.

  • Provide general supervision of Correctional Officers and inmates/residents during shifts, evaluating performance according to facility and corporate policies.
  • Conduct inspections of housing and common areas to maintain security, health, safety, and sanitation standards; take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assist in overseeing internal and external security measures, ensuring personnel alertness and adherence to security protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in the criminal justice field, including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Additional education can be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Completion of basic pre-service officer training and relevant state licensure where applicable.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old.
